Biltmore Who's Who Selects Brenda E. Floyd as this week's Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry for 2009.

Brenda E. Floyd, a retired special education teacher from Norfolk Public Schools has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Brenda E. Floyd's commitment to excellence in the education field.

Brenda E. Floyd taught life skills to students with learning disabilities and the equitably mentally retarded. Beginning her teaching career in 1987, she taught preschool students, and later jumped on board with Norfolk Public Schools five years later, working in the Special Education Department where she remained for the next ten years. Prior to her teaching career, Mrs. Floyd was taught voice, piano and organ lessons in the early 1970's through the 1990's., winning numerous talent show awards. She currently works as a wedding planner, which dates back to 1994.

Brenda is also an inspirational author, speaker and gospel singer. She plans to become a well-known author someday, touching those lives who think that they just can't go on. She is the author of a book titled "Free At Last To Do God's Will", expected for release in November, 2009 through Tate Publishing Company. The book tells the story of her life, her struggles and how God helped her through. She is an ordained evangelist and is currently working on her first CD. She is a firm believer that "If you let go and let God, you can do anything you put your mind to".

Brenda earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business in 1979 from Kee's Business College at Norfolk State University, followed by a Bachelor's in Education at Norfolk State University in 1983. She is the winner of a Faculty Appreciation Award and Singing Award from Norfolk Public School, as well as an Award for Services Provided for Special Needs Students.

Brenda E. Floyd is a devoted wife of 29 years to Walter Floyd, a mother of three and grandmother of six. She resides in Norfolk, Virginia. In her spare time she enjoys reading, song writing, story writing and shopping.
