Reverend Peter S. Edwards

Biltmore Who's Who Selects Reverend Peter S. Edwards as this week's Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry for 2009.

Reverend Peter S. Edwards Edwards, pastor for Goldsboro Church of God, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Peter S. Edwards's commitment to excellence in the religious field.

Reverend Edwards, who focuses most of his time at the Goldsboro Church of God, has been working in the Sacred Ministry for the past 54 years. After enrolling in the Jamaica Bible School (now Jamaica Bible College) in Mandeville, Jamaica, in the fall of 1957, Edwards began preparing for a lifetime of pastoral ministry. Following in the footsteps of his father, who not only had high hopes that his first born son would become a minister, Edwards pursued his dream, explaining that it was God’s plan for my life.

As an active pastor, Edwards provides a number of services to his parish members. First and foremost, he preaches sermons, saying, "Preaching, teaching and caring for people are the hallmark of faithfulness in my career as a minister." He also leads bible study, visits members of his congregation in their homes, and provides his services their hospitals when they are sick. Edwards conducts weddings and funeral services, and counsels the bereaved in many circumstances as well. He is also active in a number of other events that arise throughout the course of the year.

Edwards, a professor at Grace Bible Institute School and School of Theology, has been teaching theology and biblical studies since 1999. He’s received a doctorate in ministry in 1998 from Convington Theological Seminary, followed by a PhD in Religion in 2001 and hopes to earn a third doctorate degree within the next few years in Education from Liberty University. He has received a Citation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, House of Representatives, in 2001 and a Certificate of Commendation for service to the city of Harrisburg by Mayor Stephen Reed in 1994. He's also been published in God Stories through The Regional Church of Lancaster County in 2008. Dr. Edwards is also a member of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. In his spare time, Peter enjoys fishing and reading.

Maria E. Stellato

Biltmore Who's Who Selects Maria E. Stellato as this week's Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry for 2009.

Maria E. Stellato, co-owner and acupuncturist of Stellato-Perez Health Care, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Maria E. Stellato's commitment to excellence in the healthcare industry.

Born in Argentina and raised in Miami, Florida, Stellato has been working in acupuncture since 2005. She has recently become licensed in 2008, and is now the co-owner of her business with partner Adriana Perez.

After looking toward a career change almost five years ago, Stellato realized that her desire to learn about the human body and the power of the mind could become more than just a passion, it could also be her profession. From April of 2005 to April of 2008, she worked in her university's clinic under the supervision of her professor, all the while obtaining her most recent degree, a master's in oriental medicine. After many years of soul searching and formal studies, this "passion" and desire to heal and education patients about alternative medicinal methods finally came true.

By treating her patients with a holistic, natural approach, Stellato uses acupuncture, Chinese herbs and counseling as primary healing methods. She engages in the diagnosis of patients, while using rational Chinese medicine principles, later educating and coaching them on how to live a healthier lifestyle. She also practices by using needle and physical manipulation, heat, Tui Na and herbs to correct the energy imbalance in her patients' bodies. Stellato explains that she also prescribes custom-made herbal teas, patches and other products and treatments for her clients. "I strongly believe in the benefits of a plant-based diet, exercise and rest, a health environment and psychological well-being," she said, who practices a vegan diet and often practices meditation.

Inspired by three women, her mother, grandmother and first grade teacher, Stellato's future plans involve continuing to encourage patients to make healthy life changes and create balance in their lives to live longer and healthier. "It is very rewarding to tell a patient who came to me with very little hope of healing that he or she is finished with treatment and pain free," she explains.

Mrs. Stellato holds three degrees, including a BA in Psychology from Florida International University, a BS in Health from the Acupuncture and Massage College, and a MS in Industrial Psychology from Carlos Albizu University and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in holistic nutrition from Clayton University. She is licensed throughout the state of Florida and is also certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Stellato is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine organization, the National Health Association and EarthSave. In her spare time, Maria enjoys reading, relaxing at the beach and spending time outdoors.
