Biltmore Who's Who Selects Maria E. Stellato as this week's Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry for 2009.
Maria E. Stellato, co-owner and acupuncturist of Stellato-Perez Health Care, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Maria E. Stellato's commitment to excellence in the healthcare industry.
Born in Argentina and raised in Miami, Florida, Stellato has been working in acupuncture since 2005. She has recently become licensed in 2008, and is now the co-owner of her business with partner Adriana Perez.
After looking toward a career change almost five years ago, Stellato realized that her desire to learn about the human body and the power of the mind could become more than just a passion, it could also be her profession. From April of 2005 to April of 2008, she worked in her university's clinic under the supervision of her professor, all the while obtaining her most recent degree, a master's in oriental medicine. After many years of soul searching and formal studies, this "passion" and desire to heal and education patients about alternative medicinal methods finally came true.
By treating her patients with a holistic, natural approach, Stellato uses acupuncture, Chinese herbs and counseling as primary healing methods. She engages in the diagnosis of patients, while using rational Chinese medicine principles, later educating and coaching them on how to live a healthier lifestyle. She also practices by using needle and physical manipulation, heat, Tui Na and herbs to correct the energy imbalance in her patients' bodies. Stellato explains that she also prescribes custom-made herbal teas, patches and other products and treatments for her clients. "I strongly believe in the benefits of a plant-based diet, exercise and rest, a health environment and psychological well-being," she said, who practices a vegan diet and often practices meditation.
Inspired by three women, her mother, grandmother and first grade teacher, Stellato's future plans involve continuing to encourage patients to make healthy life changes and create balance in their lives to live longer and healthier. "It is very rewarding to tell a patient who came to me with very little hope of healing that he or she is finished with treatment and pain free," she explains.
Mrs. Stellato holds three degrees, including a BA in Psychology from Florida International University, a BS in Health from the Acupuncture and Massage College, and a MS in Industrial Psychology from Carlos Albizu University and is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in holistic nutrition from Clayton University. She is licensed throughout the state of Florida and is also certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Stellato is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine organization, the National Health Association and EarthSave. In her spare time, Maria enjoys reading, relaxing at the beach and spending time outdoors.
