Biltmore Who's Who Selects Betty Darby-Jackson as this week's Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry for 2009.

Betty Darby-Jackson, book author and youth coordinator/mentor for for at-risk youth, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Betty Darby-Jackson's commitment to excellence in the field of Journalism.

Darby-Jackson, author of "Lessons Learned From Life For Insight," an inspiration book of poetry that was put together while working as a youth counselor, sets out to have a positive effect on everyday self-esteem issues seen by at-risk children as well as the older generation.

In an effort to improve self-worth of those that she routinely works with, Darby-Jackson has written and delivered some great poetry, all of which were inspired by poets Maya Angelo and Marion Wright Elderman. By writing poetry in her spare time, she focused her energy on life experiences and others she knew in life, through God's point of view. "I wanted to write something to leave a message for the youth to live by, from the life skills they were educated on and from their group sessions. All of my poems are spoken words to inspire the youth and also comfort the aging," she explained. "My poems are common sense, direct and true to life, and are geared to ponder, inspire, empower and enlighten."

Darby-Jackson's experience, which includes over eight years with the Department of Social Services, the school district and countless workshops, as well as volunteer time spent at local youth programs, churches and nursing homes, gave her the motivation to want to put her thoughts into words to do her part and make a difference. In the future, she plans to publish a second book and also develop a website to help her inspire the youth. She also hopes to spearhead a recreational center within her community sometime in the future.

Ms. Darby-Jackson is a two-time recipient of an Employee of the Month award through the Department of Social Services and has won an award for Quality Assurance. She's been recognized in several local newspapers for her fundraising efforts for her students.

Betty will be hosting a book signing on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 3-5pm at Berkeley Middle School's Multi-Purpose Room in Moncks Corner, South Carolina. Please visit http://www.xlibris.com/bookstore for more information on how to get a copy of her book of poetry.
